Magnum Venus Products (MVP) has a rich history of innovation and excellence, rooted in family values and industry leadership. The story began in 1938 with the establishment of Graves Spray Supply in Chicago, purchased in 1947 by B.J. Hedger. Under the guidance of his son, Jim Hedger Sr., Graves rapidly grew into a leading distributor of coating equipment, serving iconic customers like Ford, Chrysler, GM, and GE.
In the 1970s, Graves expanded into the emerging fiberglass-reinforced plastics (FRP) industry, becoming the largest FRP equipment distributor in North America. Recognizing the potential for innovation, Jim Hedger Sr. founded Magnum Industries in the 1980s, transitioning from distribution to designing and manufacturing cutting-edge equipment. Magnum’s patented Airless Air-Assist technology set a new standard for emissions reduction and efficiency in the industry.
Meanwhile, on the West Coast, Venus Products, founded by Frank Ives in 1954, revolutionized the FRP industry with the first internal mix fiberglass spray technology. Venus became known worldwide for its engineering excellence, including its Hydraulic Injection System, which minimized waste and improved efficiency.
In 2000, the two pioneering companies united when Magnum Industries acquired Venus Products, forming Magnum Venus Products (MVP). This merger created a global leader in FRP equipment, combining decades of innovation and expertise. MVP’s advancements continued, including the patented FIT® system, designed to reduce styrene emissions and improve transfer efficiency, and the Flex Molding Process, which redefined closed mold production for complex parts.
Today, MVP honors the legacy of Jim Hedger Sr. through its commitment to innovation, quality, and family values. Now led by the third generation of the Hedger family, MVP continues to shape the future of fluid movement and production solutions while maintaining its reputation for excellence across industries.
At MVP, we see our customers, employees, and partners as part of our extended family. Together, we’re building something greater than a company — we’re shaping industries, improving lives, and creating a legacy of innovation and excellence.
